World Microbiome Day 2025

Ahalia School of Pharmacy conducted a seminar which was organised by Department of Pharmaceutics, on Microbiomes and Healthcare: A Unified Approach on the event of the World Microbiome Day 2025 with the theme “Microbiome 101: What You Need to Know?”, on 27th June 2025 at 1:00 PM, in Ahalia Diabetic Hospital Auditorium.
Our esteemed Principal, Prof. Dr. Sapna Shrikumar, gave a warm welcome address.The inaugural address was delivered by Chief Guest Dr. Suresh Babu K G, Chief Medical Director, Ahalia Health, Heritage & Knowledge Village, who highlighted the growing relevance of microbiome research in patient-centered care.
This was followed by a felicitation by speakers Dr. Prem Narayanan, Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist, Ahalia Diabetes Hospital, Dr A. Sowmiya Rathnapratheep, Registrar – Endocrinology, Ahalia Diabetes Hospital. The Convener of the Seminar -Dr. Deepu S, Professor and Head of Pharmaceutics, felicitated the function.The Vote of Thanks was given by Mrs.D.Deborah Evangeline, Associate Professor who is the Organizing Secretary.
Dr. Prem Narayanan conducted a very interactive session on the topic: Microbiome Foundation & Clinical significance, and Dr. A. Sowmiya Rathnapratheep gave a lecture on Antibiotic treatment- Microbial Resistance. The students found the seminar highly useful as it raised awareness about the concept of the microbiome and how it can be utilized to promote better health in daily life.
The program concluded with the Valedictory Function by distributing certificates to all the participants and with the National Anthem. The seminar was highly beneficial for students, providing them with a clear understanding of the microbiome and its practical role in maintaining daily health.
